Chapter 1

“Goodmorning Ms. Danielles. I know it’s your day off today, but I hope you don’t mind doing me a small favor.”

“Sure ma’am, what would that be?”

“Will you please make me some waffles? My family just got back last night from Puerto Rico, we’re having a great lunch today and I need your delicious waffles! I’m really sorry, you know I could find NOBODY ELSE who makes delicious waffles BUT YOU.”

“Ahahaha! That’s okay ma’am! I will make ‘em absolutely delish! Don’t worry, I won’t let you down!”

“Great! Just deliver the waffles at the restaurant by 11am. And thank you very much, Ms. Danielles!”

“Sure ma’am, anytime. I’ll be there in a little while.”

She hung up and immediately started making waffles for her boss.

A few moments later the waffles were done. Seeing her nicely prepared food has always amused her and has always made her feel good about herself. She moved her face forward, nearing the freshly made waffles and inhaled its delightful scent. “Ahh, it smells really yummy. Ma’am is sure gonna like these.” she confidently said. 11am was still like 45 minutes away. “I think it’ll be great to get there at a much earlier time.” she thought. She placed the waffles inside the box, went to find her car keys, walked up to her car, and left.

Randy pulled over his car next to the restaurant which had the familiar name that Zeke had told him earlier: Bistro Juliana. “Looks like this is it.” Randy whispered to himself. He was hesitant about getting off the car and proceeding to the restaurant, but he eventually made up his mind and got going. He was kinda timid to go inside Bistro Juliana though, so he decided to rather stay outside and just sit there, waiting for something “unconventional” to happen.

While sitting, thoughts started playing in his mind again. He was thinking of what would be the right thing to do if he really gets to see her today. What way of approach he was gonna do seemed to perplex him and make him worry more; he was nervous about actually seeing her again.

Suddenly, some lady walked her way toward the door of Bistro Juliana, and it caught Randy’s eyes, his perplexing thoughts earlier got all erased when this lady came to his sight.

Randy could not believe what he was actually seeing now: a familiar brunette, her hair fell down just about inches past her shoulders, that familiar slender body, that familiar gait; the way she walked, the posture, everything was familiar to his eyes and he could say that nothing had really changed over the past year.

“Nicole.” Randy silently uttered the name he hadn’t heard of, and which also his lips hadn’t pronounced in such a long time. He was literally frozen and was like permanently glued in his seat as he just watched her walk toward the door, entering Bistro Juliana. He didn’t know what to do and how to approach her.

Randy was completely feeling uneasy and butterflies just started flying within his stomach. He wasn’t moving, still thinking of what to do once she comes out of that door; once he sees her again.

Shortly after being inside the resto, she finally walked out the door and this left Randy no other choice but to run to her and speak to her again. He just went in; for a moment he didn’t care if he didn’t have a thing to tell her or about what he would say to her. All that mattered to him at that very millisecond was the chance of speaking to her again.

“NICOLE!” Randy shouted.

She stopped walking, but didn’t look back. Randy called her for the second time, but she didn’t look back still and proceeded walking. This time, Randy already grabbed her arm and turned her to face him. Now they were looking at each other.

Their eyes meet again, is the spark still there or could it be all gone?

“he-he--..Hey Nicole”, Randy nervously said. She wasn’t responding and she only oddly stared at him. As they both looked each other in the eyes, Randy felt a bit awkward.

While looking at her being all silent, he just had no clue as to what she could possibly be thinking of him now. He certainly hoped she didn’t hold a grudge against him or anything like that (after what he had done to her before); but if she was still angry, Randy hoped that they could just both properly talk things over. He decided to break the awkward silence…

“Uhm Hi. So how are things go—“ Randy discontinued talking when she avoided eye contact with him and attempted to run away from him. “Nicole! Hey wait!!!” Randy yelled while he ran fast, trying to catch her up. “Nicole!!! Please stop running!” He yelled again but she wouldn’t stop. Now he was drawing near to her, and finally grabbed her arm, making her stop.

“Nicole…” Randy murmured while panting, he was out of breath from running fast. He still didn’t let go of her arm, just to make sure that she doesn’t run away again.

“Nicole, please… if you’re mad you don’t need to avoid me or run away from me! I know you were hurt and we have left things undone, questions unanswered and all. Please, let me explain everything, Nicole. Let’s talk, please, c’mon Nicole.” Randy pleaded with her, his voice noticeably desperate.

She didn’t respond, still. All she had was the strange look on her face; her eyes seemed to be full of anxiety while she watched Randy plead with her. She tried to get away of Randy’s tight grip and pull her arm back to her and attempted to run once more, but Randy immediately managed to stop her again.

“Please Nicole! Please don’t do this to me.” Randy earnestly begged. “If you just give me a chance to talk and explain everything, please let me have that chance Nicole… I can’t contain this any longer, Nicole just let me expl—“

“I am not Nicole.” She unconventionally said at once, tone of seriousness in her voice.
